Will You Step Up or Give Up?

In Uncategorized by Joseph Anderson1 Comment

No matter how big or inspiring your dream is, if you don’t show up to do the work then you are not going to achieve it. I believe we fall into one of two groups 1) We work hard towards our dreams 2) We wait around thinking of the best action that we can take, and often never getting around to it. For years I have been one of those that waits around until the perfect idea comes to them.  Then one day I had an impression that changed my life. I have created a point system for myself where must get 60 points each day to be done. Then one day while watching the movie The Ultimate Gift, I had an impression from that inner voice to do 1000 pts in a week. I thought it was crazy, but I enjoy a good challenge so I decided I would do it. I started the week and worked hard, Monday I had 100 pts which was off the amount needed of 200 per day. Tuesday I had 129, a little better. Wednesday I worked really hard and got 185. Thursday came and I worked pretty hard and gained 161 pts. When Friday came I was still short by 425 points. That morning was the time to step up or give up. Now knowing I was human, I had placed some bigger point values in my system, one of these was for every single call that I made I would receive 1 pt. It didn’t matter whether they answered or even if it was a wrong number, it was still worth a point. I decided that morning, that I had already come so far with 575 points that I had to keep going. I picked up a digital phone book and …

How Have You Stopped Yourself from Realizing Your Dreams? (Part III)

In Uncategorized by Joseph AndersonLeave a Comment

Be the first to find the hidden leprechaun! Today’s article is part 3 of how the truth sets us free by acknowledging “How have you stopped yourself from realizing your dreams?” I once heard that if it were easy to be in great shape and wealthy everyone would do it. There’s a lot of truth to that statement. It’s not easy to realize our dreams, but it’s simple. We just need to have most of the actions in our life be put in service of that dream that we want. If you want to write a book then it’s probably important to block off time in your calendar every day to write and most importantly show up and write. If you want to be a professional basketball player, it would probably benefit you to practice each day. We will get more into the path of your dreams next week, but lets go back to the big question for today. First a caution for you reading this, we look back on our past to learn; not to beat ourselves up. So remember today’s article is not about beating yourself up for all that you haven’t done up to this point in your life, I know that’s easy to do. It is about generating awareness about the ways that you have been stopping yourself from realizing your dreams! So let’s get started. “How do you stop yourself from working on your dream each day.” I want you to think back to that dream that you had as a child, how did you stop yourself from accomplishing it? I’ll share a few of my own ways that I stopped myself from becoming a professional athlete for you to learn from and hopefully do the opposite that I did. So here we go, here …

The Truth Will Set You Free To Succeed Part 2

Try and be the first today to find the hidden leprechaun! Today’s article is part 2 of how the truth sets us free by acknowledging the dream we still have inside each of us. No matter how old or young you are, if we are honest with ourselves each one of us has dreams… we may have buried them because we thought we couldn’t have them anymore now that we are grown up adults. I’ve got news for you though, we have it all wrong! Each one of us one day is going to leave this earth. NOW is our time to start living our dreams, if you feel you are too old too start just remember as someone once said, “Today you are as young as you will ever be.” And as another quote I love states “You cannot go back and change the past, but you can start we you right now and change the ending.” Today we focus on getting real and honest about where you really want to be! I want you to remember back to the time that you were a child, when you had big dreams… you didn’t call them goals, you called them dreams. I remember being in my grandma’s backyard with my cousin Andrew playing baseball, and I remember saying, “Anderson is up to bat, it’s game seven of the world series and it’s the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs with bases loaded, the Diamondbacks are down by three runs and if Anderson hits a grand slam his team will win the game…. Here’s the pitch, Anderson get’s a hold of the pitch and it’s going, going, gone!! ANDERSON HAS WON THE GAME FOR THE DBACKS!!!! DBACKS ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS! I haven’t thought about this for year until tonight as …

The Truth Will Set You Free To Succeed Part 1

See if you can be the first to find the hidden leprechaun? If so, try and be the first to comment below where you see it! Today’s article is part 1 how the truth sets us free by acknowledging the where we TRULY are on our map of life. Have you ever heard the phrase that “Honesty is always the best policy.” This phrase isn’t just a phrase that applies to dealing with other people. Most importantly it applies to ourselves. One of my jobs as a success coach is to help people be absolutely honest with themselves. Sometimes, when I am working with a client, I tell them “You are attempting to hide an old piano with a pillowcase.” Or in other words in the corner of your front room there is an old piano with a pillowcase placed on top of it. Every time a friend comes over, you may say something like, oh whats that old piano doing her? And you may respond, that’s not a piano; it’s a table or that’s not a piano; it’s a grandfather clock or that’s not a piano it’s a pinball machine! Our friend may argue with us for a bit and say ” No, that’s a piano,” However after a while, they will grow tired of trying to convince us and let us keep our “NOT PIANO” In each area of our lives, there are things that we don’t want anyone else to see. Maybe we are overweight, broke or miserable. We walk around thinking, that nobody sees it, but the truth is just like that old piano everybody sees it. They can see when we overweight, broke or even struggling in general. When we acknowledge that we actually are overweight, broke, etc. we put ourselves in a place to …

Do You Ever Feel Behind in life?… I know I do!

In Uncategorized by Joseph AndersonLeave a Comment

Have you ever had one of those days you feel so behind in life? Have you ever started comparing yourself with someone else, leaving you feeling frustrated? You may feel that they are so much more ahead of where you are at in your life. Maybe, they are married to an amazing person and that’s your deepest desire; Maybe they have your dream job or maybe they all around have an incredible life– from your perspective. The other day, I had one of those frustrating days. The night before I had stayed up late to watch the last episode of Stranger Things 3, and I was so moved and blown away that I really wanted to watch more, but there wasn’t any more. For the next hour I found myself watching videos on YouTube of the cast of stranger things, learning more about their lives. Each of the actors that were on the show seemed to have some pretty cool lives. Especially some of the younger kids, some of them not only were actors but they were also in a band and one even had her own cosmetics business — at 15 YEARS OLD. I didn’t even know what I was doin in life when I was 15. Another was only 24 and seemed to just have everything going for him in his life. When I woke up the next morning, I felt very frustrated, yet I found myself still looking at one of the actor’s social media profiles. After the finale, one of the characters performances that I found most inspiring was an actor named Dacre Montgomery. At only 24 he is now an excellent actor.  He has also started his own podcast, business and more. And I just started wishing that I could have got it together when …

Finding “The One” is Like Finding a needle in a haystack

In Uncategorized by Joseph Anderson3 Comments

(See if you can find the little animal hidden in the picture) If you are single, you can probably relate to how frustrating it can feel at times to find the person of your dreams. You have probably tried online dating, going to singles events and you may have even resorted to going on some blind dates. I don’t know about you guys, but I know sometimes I have felt that finding the person of my dreams is like looking for a needle in a haystack.  I often use the analogy that finding the person of your dreams is like finding a golden needle in a huge barn full haystacks. You walk into a huge barn, that is filled with stacks of hay. You walk to the first pile and casually sift through the hay. You go on a quite a few first dates, a few second dates, maybe one third date. After sifting through this entire pile of hay, you move quickly to the next, only to find the same results, except in this pile you may find a person that’s not really your cup of tea, that you date for a month. Then, you move onto the next pile to find nothing, and the next to find nothing and you begin to get a bit more frantic until you are quickly running around the barn, looking through the haystacks as quickly as you can, but you are not finding what are looking for. The more stacks of hay you look through,  the more disheartened and frustrated you become, until sometimes you just give up all together. Let’s face it, finding the one can be really frustrating at times, however, you noticed though that often times you find awesome connections with people when you are not searching for it. …

Just Take A Tiny Step Each Day

In Uncategorized by Joseph AndersonLeave a Comment

Last week, as I was playing a game of basketball. I went up to block someone, and instead landed right on someone and apparently on my left arm. After the adrenaline had cleared from my system my left arm started to hurt pretty bad, I continued to play and for a while was able to play with both arms but after some time my arm hurt so bad that I stopped playing with it. I just played with my right hand, and even made a 3 pointer one handed which I was pretty pleased about. After the game was over, my arm began to get so tight that I couldn’t even bend it. After going to the doctor, he said it wasn’t broken but I had hurt it pretty bad, the giant bruise that appeared later showed this also. He also told me that if any activity that I did hurt it then don’t do it. This annoyed me, because at the time, I was doing so well at lots of things. I had for the most part recovered from a few years of shoulder pain, injuries and even a surgery. I was really enjoying my life of Basketball, Ice hockey, lifting weights, playing sand volleyball, and playing guitar. I didn’t realize how many of those things you need your arm for, but the answer is all of them. For the next week I couldn’t really do anything that I wanted to do, and I found myself slipping. I am often an all or nothing person, especially when it comes to working out. So after a few days of not working out I was beginning to feel a bit sluggish. I was finding myself staying up til late in the late night watching reruns of gameshows from the 80’s, because …

How To Do Things You Think Are Hard?

In Uncategorized by Joseph AndersonLeave a Comment

Have you ever had a task that you felt was going to take forever or you just really didn’t want to do it? You may have even found yourself doing all kinds of other things that only mildly interested you, catching up the news, watching a sports team that you don’t care about, or even watching a bottom of the barrel Netflix show that you didn’t want to watch when it was on tv twenty years ago but now it even seems more fun than your daunting task. How do we get ourselves to do the thing that we need to do, but part of us thinks its going to be really hard? Often times when I am with my nieces and nephews, I learn valuable lessons. I was attempting to get them to clean and they like most children were either attempting to avoid it, not wanting to, or just putting one small toy in the box at a time– as slow as they possibly could. I said, “You do realize that the faster you get this done, the sooner that you can go back to playing? However, even my somewhat logical explanation didn’t work for them. They would put far more energy into literally running away from me and even in circles around their house to avoid doing any work. Looking back I find myself laughing. The work I was asking them to do would have taken less than 5 minutes if we all worked together and they stalled for a very long time before finally helping — a little bit. If your child or nieces and nephews have done this then you may have even thought, why can’t they understand that if they would just do this, they can go do what they enjoy? Maybe you have …

How Do You Continue, When You Can’t See Progress?

In Uncategorized by Joseph AndersonLeave a Comment

Have you ever felt that you were not progressing the way you wanted to, whether in your business, relationship or a new talent you are developing? Often times people give up after a short amount of time of starting something new. In January, the gyms are swarmed with people, but within a few short months, they are fairly empty. Countless abandoned blogs lie on the internet, that once someone was excited about creating. Millions of Youtube channels lie abandoned. Countless business ventures are abandoned. I want to share with you a way that you will help you accomplish your goals and dreams as opposed to letting them rot to death in the graveyard of broken dreams as so many others have. What if I told you that if you just dedicated 15 minutes at the very minimum 5 days a week to what you want to create, that you would eventually get it done. That’s 65 hours a year, if you wanted to do 6 days a week its 78 hours a year. That’s enough to make a dent in almost any project. And if you want to spend 30 minutes a day that adds up 130-156 hour a year. So often, we look at a project and it’s overwhelming. Just the sight of it makes us doubt ourselves and we don’t even try. One of the things I do as a coach, is help people get started and keep going during the times when they lose sight of their goal or they get frustrated and don’t want to do anything. Sometimes we feel that 15 minutes wouldn’t make a difference. Take a look at the scale pictured above. Is there any item that you could place on one side that would have no effect on the other side? No, …

It’s Time For Your Declaration of Independence!

In Uncategorized by Joseph AndersonLeave a Comment

Happy Independence day! What a great time to become free of your past and begin to the live The It’s Possible Life and make the things happen that you really want to ! In the United States, we celebrate our independence from Great Britain on July 4th each year. It is a huge celebration with fireworks, barbecues, family and friends  in which we celebrate our independence from England back in 1776. I find it interesting that the 4th of July just so happens to be almost exactly half way through the year, what a perfect day to create your own declaration of independence. Even if the first part of the year hasn’t been very good, you can declare independence from that also and start fresh today. There come’s a day in our life, when we too get fed up with our past choices, relationships, our current circle of friends, not living our dreams, not going after our goals, or anything else we need to change. Sometimes our past can feel unsurmountable, we have been creating it for so long that sometimes change seems to be impossible. America’s story of independence was no different, for many years they had been in a terrible relationship with Britain. Britain heavily taxed and mistreated America. They were the giant bully that felt they could do anything to America.  Britain began to place acts on America that were harsh; just to name a few the currency act, the stamp act, the townshend act, and the tea act. After these acts which lasted many years, the Colonies became frustrated and decided enough was enough. It was time to fight for what was theirs and declared their independence from their mother land. Many that first talked about taking on Britain, probably used phrases similar to impossible, treason …
