Do You Ever Feel Behind in life?… I know I do!

Have you ever had one of those days you feel so behind in life? Have you ever started comparing yourself with someone else, leaving you feeling frustrated? You may feel that they are so much more ahead of where you are at in your life. Maybe, they are married to an amazing person and that’s your deepest desire; Maybe they have your dream job or maybe they all around have an incredible life– from your perspective.

The other day, I had one of those frustrating days. The night before I had stayed up late to watch the last episode of Stranger Things 3, and I was so moved and blown away that I really wanted to watch more, but there wasn’t any more. For the next hour I found myself watching videos on YouTube of the cast of stranger things, learning more about their lives. Each of the actors that were on the show seemed to have some pretty cool lives. Especially some of the younger kids, some of them not only were actors but they were also in a band and one even had her own cosmetics business — at 15 YEARS OLD. I didn’t even know what I was doin in life when I was 15. Another was only 24 and seemed to just have everything going for him in his life.

When I woke up the next morning, I felt very frustrated, yet I found myself still looking at one of the actor’s social media profiles. After the finale, one of the characters performances that I found most inspiring was an actor named Dacre Montgomery. At only 24 he is now an excellent actor.  He has also started his own podcast, business and more. And I just started wishing that I could have got it together when I was younger and not wasted so much time. I wish that I could have had more discipline, more drive, more desire and more of the will to hold onto what I really wanted — or better yet had figured out what I really wanted.

Then I came across two of Dacre’s post that really stuck with me, the first was this :

” Do not be afraid to take risks in your work. I spent 10 years pursuing a career before I booked anything.

You need to have an unwavering belief in your abilities and yourself. Light that fire in your belly and visualize your goals.

But most of all DO NOT BE AFRAID TO FAIL. Go out there and get it!”

He had spent 10 years working hard to become an actor. He visualized it. He had UNWAVERING belief in his abilities faith and believed that he was really going to make it. And then there was another post that really caught my attention.

” When I was a kid, I was lost.

I had a really tough time in school.

I was a big kid who loved drama.

I never got passing grades, I wasn’t popular or a gifted sports player.

Girls were never interested in me.

I suffered from anxiety from a young age.

I was distracted and I wasn’t focused.

But I had a dream, I was lucky – I knew what I wanted to do. And every night I went home and I focused on THAT.

I visualized a future where my dreams became a reality.

When I was 15 I failed my high school drama exams.

When I was 16 I was told I needed to loose weight.

When I was 17 I was told I should go to drama school and train.

When I was 18 I was fired from my job.

When I was in drama school I was told to leave.

When I had a DREAM – I was told it wasn’t achievable.

Well, you know what….

I lost weight, I went to drama school and I never stopped wanting it, I never stopped being curious. I never let the failures get me down.

Because I believed in myself and I never let anyone tell me otherwise.

You can do anything you set your mind to.

So, go out there and get it! “

Dacre went from the point of not being able to almost anything, he probably had many hard days. He was overweight, most would have considered him to be a failure. He probably had many days where he screamed, got frustrated and cried, just hoping for better days! This is a picture of him in But he kept going, he kept believing and he eventually made it. Now Dacre get’s paid to live his dream as an actor. He has 5.3 Million followers on Instagram, a beautiful girl friend, a business and much more. However, he didn’t get that overnight.

If you ever feel someone is way ahead of you in life, go back and find something they did 10 years ago. You will notice that they weren’t even close to where they are today. But they just kept going, dreaming, visualizing, believing and most importantly WORKING HARD towards their ideal future – and eventually they made it.

When we look at someone else in can either frustrate and depress us, or it can inspire us. The other day, at first I was frustrated as I compared my life to his, and now as I read this post, I’m more inspired than I was the other day.

Instead of getting frustrated, get RECOMMITTED to your goals, dreams and aspirations, start to believe again!

The other day, I took the entire day to be frustrated. I watched more TV and played more FIFA 19 on XBOX than I should have or even wanted to and then this morning I got back to work. It’s okay to have a bad day, its okay to be mad, angry, frustrated and upset. However, staying there for days, weeks, months or years is not healthy.

And when you get to that place, seek for strength from you source, I know in the past few days I have had some very real conversations with my Heavenly Father, whether you believe in a higher power or not is up to you, but I know that as a quote I like says, “When it gets too hard to stand, try kneeling”. You can always turn to your source and it gives you energy. If your phone battery is dying what do you do, you plug it into your source. So when you can’t go on anymore plug into your source.

Also, when you get frustrated from your past, remember this quote I had heard originally it was by C.S. Lewis but the more research I did the more I found out no one really knows who said it.

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

Don’t beat yourself up for your past choices, you were doing the best you could at the time. Just start living and focusing on your ideal life, start focusing on your highest priorities, start taking risk, start taking the tiny, “It’s possible” steps and you will do great things.

No matter how hard things get in your life, choose to stick around. The days will get better. You will learn you will grow. If you haven’t read it in a while, I highly recommend reading “Oh the places you’ll go” by Dr. Seuss.  It teaches many powerful lessons (you can even find someone reading it on Youtube to you if you don’t want to buy it)

You will have challenges in your life, it’s how you grow. The more you decide to commit to what you want, the more successful that you will be in this life. Also understand their will be certain things that you are unable to control, there are illnesses and challenges, but if you decide what you want and do something towards it each and every day, you are going to have a much better chance at getting it!

What can you start doing today? What’s the tiny step that you need to take in your life to move just a little bit closer or a lot closer to what you want? Let me know in the comments below.

Then go ahead and do them, give them a try, and you will make the impossible, possible.
