2019! YOUR Year of Miracles

In Uncategorized by Joseph Anderson4 Comments

2019 begins tomorrow and if you will allow it to be, 2019 is going to be your year of miracles. I want you to pick the one thing that you desire to happen this year more anything in the world and make that your laser focus. If you have a great coach (even if you just use my weekly articles that will be up every Monday morning on my website) and if you keep your commitments to yourself, no matter how tiny they are, your life will change. Especially if you really begin this journey of personal growth with me. This is YOUR year! Yes, you that is reading this, I am really talking to you.

No matter what you have struggled with each and every year in the past, this next year is your year. You must believe that Miracles are going to happen, and they will. I will share a few things for you towards the end of this article that will help you make the most of the next year.

Now if you are one of those people that is not excited about this next year, please understand that I can relate. This may come as a shock to those that know me, or even think they know me; but for many years now, I have really dreaded the coming of a new year. It was a reminder of all of the things that I did not accomplish. It’s almost like the cartoon scene in Monty Python and the holy grail where the narrator says, “and there was much rejoicing” and they less than enthusiastically hold up their flags and say, “yay…”

This year for the first time in YEARS…I am actually excited for the new year. I feel I am on an excellent path, and can’t wait to continue this path..

As for the years I didn’t enjoy it, maybe you can relate. For the past many years, I would spend that time between Christmas and New Years looking back on those things that I wanted to accomplish that I did not finish which would leave me frustrated and even upset at what I did not get done. I would also look at those things that I have longed for that have not yet happened in my life. Most of all, by spending time with family and loved ones I was consistently reminded of the things that I didn’t have: the wife of my dreams and a family.

For many years, I often felt that once I had those things in my life that I thought I needed to be happy, that life would feel complete. However, I have finally learned that I was wrong. Of course I still want those things, but I have now spent a week with my sister and her family in Kansas City, MO and have had an amazing time. I really haven’t looked at her and her little family longing to have my own. I have looked at them so grateful that I can spend time with them and loving each of my six nieces and nephews every chance that I get. I have loved it.

I have realized that I cannot force things to happen in my life, and just in case you are thinking of trying to force something to happen in a relationship or other area of life, take my advice and just don’t. Relationships aren’t perfect, but I have seen from those that have tried to force them it doesn’t work for either person – and often cost a lot of time and pain. Also if you are with the wrong person then there isn’t a space for the right person. Remember, there is a natural ebb and flow to the events of our lives and when we understand that, life becomes manageable.

The great Buddha said that, “The root of suffering is attachment.” The way I see this is that when we are attached to having to have the things that we desire, it creates disappointment. There is nothing wrong with desiring the things that you desire. But when we become like the little creature Gollum, from Lord of the Rings, and say, “My precious” and make it an obsession to have those things that we want in life, we too like Gollum will get that crazy scowl and look on our face, And often make ourselves miserable. Go after what you want with everything that you have but as you’re on the journey allow yourself to enjoy it.

To better sum it up, You create your own happiness or misery with your thinking. You cannot control anything except you. Remember that you are Okay! With or without a spouse, family or your big awesome goal. You don’t need anything to be happy except you! And when you are truly, genuinely happy you are much more excited to go after the goals that you want.

I believe happiness comes from one other important area: Personal growth. One reason that I feel much better this year is because since I started to work with an accountability partner in Limhi Montoya, I have grown so much and I feel that I truly am on an incredible path. Before working with him, I knew most things I needed to do, but I wasn’t doing them. So if you haven’t yet, please get an accountability partner. Even the clients that I work with on a regular basis I recommend that they have another accountability partner.

Miracles are on the horizon for you, this next year is going to be amazing for you! This next year is going to be amazing. I just believe and know that amazing things are on their way for you and everyone that lives in the land of possibility. Focus on whats possible and even if something feels impossible, make it a game to make it possible.

Now I want to share with you a great way to set up your 2019… This is what I call my 3:5:10 principle… Get a blank sheet of paper and write down the following.

1) Your 3 laser focuses for 2019 – Decide the 3 things that if you achieved or received this year would make the year a success. To help you, just ask this question 3 times: What is the one thing that you really, really , really want, more than anything in this world?

2) Your 5 areas of growth – for example maybe you want to learn a new song on the guitar each month. Maybe you want to read a book a month (yes this is really possible). Maybe you want to get a new certification or degree in your line of work. Just decide 5 things and write them down

3) Work Hard, PLAY HARDER – Decide the 10 fun things that you want to do this year that would make the year so much fun and then schedule them in your calendar. It can be Disneyland, A tropical vacation or as simple as taking a local hike that you want to. Regardless what it is, just pick something that you will enjoy – if you don’t schedule things in your schedule then they don’t get done.

And if you are not sure about what you want to accomplish or you may be curious of what it would look like to work with a coach, contact me and lets set up a life changing conversation for you. Also feel free to comment below of what you are going to do for your 3,5,10.

Make 2019 your year of Miracles, Most importantly HAPPY NEW YEAR!
