Well once again the eve of Christmas is upon us, and there is a sense of magic and anticipation in the air. Your children, or maybe your nieces and nephews are literally bouncing off the walls waiting for the night when a man in a giant red suit comes down the chimney delivering happiness and awesomeness in the shape of presents.
Isn’t this truly one of the most wonderful times of the year? , no matter how challenging the year has been we have that opportunity to be with our loved ones and we really feel complete. It’s almost that sense of not just coming home to our loved ones but of coming home to our selves, and in that moment all the challenges, trials and hardships are often forgotten.
It’s also as if when we return to our home base and are with those that love us, we find that we are okay… aside from all of our challenges, and heartaches, WE ARE OKAY… Yes I mean even you reading this, You are okay! And when we realize that we are okay, we begin to once again believe that life us full of possibility. And when we begin that our lives are full of possibility instead of impossibility, we begin to believe. And belief can be magically dangerous and amazing. We begin to believe that we are possible! Our lives are possible and it is possible to achieve our dreams.
Don’t you think it is kind of interesting that Christmas falls literally one week from New years. It’s almost like Christmas is the starting line to get us in a great state of mind to mentally prepare and plan for the next year!
It’s time to dream, believe and get excited.
What would this next year be like if you began to ask for those things that you wanted the same way a child ask for the things on their Christmas list?
Imagine if you dreamed of this next year the same way a child does on Christmas Eve, that you were so excited with thoughts of the dreams that you were going to achieve and receive this year that you couldn’t sleep. That your dreams were filled with all of the amazing, epic and dare I say things others would feel it’s impossible. Remember, most children have no problem asking for things that they want…these days they will ask for tablets, phones and laptops. They are not deterred. If they want it, they will ask for it!
So what about you, what if you asked for things that seemed impossible to you at this time in your life? The person of your dreams, your dream job, your dream car, or your entire dream life. What if you started asking for exactly what you want?
In the Book of Mormon, a book of Scripture comparable to the bible, a man named Nephi has the chance to talk to an angel. Do you know what the Angel asked him? It is not a long and elaborate question… It is simply this… What do you desire?? And he didn’t just ask him once, he asked him over and over and over! However, you don’t need an angel to show up and ask you want you want, you just need to sit down and ask yourself, what do I desire?
So what about you? What do you desire? What do you REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want? One question I ask my clients when we first sit down is “Right now, what do you really, really, really want more than anything in the world? The other question I ask them almost every coaching session is, “What is the miracle that you want to experience in this very coaching session?”
Part of belief is expecting that you are going to get it. When we expect we are going to get something we ask for it differently. Now You may be thinking of your dream goal or miracle and thinking, there is no way in the world that I can get that. Stop doubting yourself! Remember doubt is nothing but a thought that we really don’t have to pay attention to. Without all the doubting thoughts circling in your head, you would actually be doing pretty well.
If you believed in Santa Claus for many Years… then you can sure believe in yourself for even this year! It’s time to say forget the past, forget what you have doubted all these years and start to believe in yourself. What would it hurt if you started to believe?
What does that mean to believe? It means to decide what it is you want more than anything in the world and then take the actions one would take that actually believed they could accomplish that. Do something every day to achieve it and expect that it will actually happen and if you do something little every day this belief in you will grow until eventually you will feel it like fire in your bones.
So this week do the following:
1) Answer the question: What is the one thing that I really, really, really want more than anything in this world?
2) Commit to take just one tiny step each day to achieve that.
And most importantly Have a Merry Christmas!
