The Truth Will Set You Free To Succeed Part 1

See if you can be the first to find the hidden leprechaun? If so, try and be the first to comment below where you see it!

Today’s article is part 1 how the truth sets us free by acknowledging the where we TRULY are on our map of life.

Have you ever heard the phrase that “Honesty is always the best policy.” This phrase isn’t just a phrase that applies to dealing with other people. Most importantly it applies to ourselves.

One of my jobs as a success coach is to help people be absolutely honest with themselves. Sometimes, when I am working with a client, I tell them “You are attempting to hide an old piano with a pillowcase.”

Or in other words in the corner of your front room there is an old piano with a pillowcase placed on top of it. Every time a friend comes over, you may say something like, oh whats that old piano doing her? And you may respond, that’s not a piano; it’s a table or that’s not a piano; it’s a grandfather clock or that’s not a piano it’s a pinball machine!

Our friend may argue with us for a bit and say ” No, that’s a piano,” However after a while, they will grow tired of trying to convince us and let us keep our “NOT PIANO”

In each area of our lives, there are things that we don’t want anyone else to see. Maybe we are overweight, broke or miserable. We walk around thinking, that nobody sees it, but the truth is just like that old piano everybody sees it.

They can see when we overweight, broke or even struggling in general.

When we acknowledge that we actually are overweight, broke, etc. we put ourselves in a place to do something about it.

For example, when a client comes to me with a struggling business, the first thing is for THEM to TRULY realize that according to their standards their business, their business is not where they want it to be.

Just like a GPS needs to know your current location so that it can accurately calculate the path to your desired destination. We have to acknowledge where we TRULY are on the path of our goals, before we can move forward.

So where are you on your map right now?

A very important thing to remember is that you don’t have to get frustrated and put lots of weight on where you are right now. Beating ourselves up or being frustrated about our past, isn’t healthy or even beneficial.

I want you to just think about it almost like you are making a simple observation.

I am standing in Phoenix

Ex. I am 300 lbs.…  I am $100,000 in debt…. I am working a job that I dislike

Then simply decide the location that you desire to end up.

I desire to be standing in New York City.

Ex. I desire to be 150 lbs.… I desire to have $0 in debt… I desire to be working a job that I love.

After you have been honest with where you are and said where you desire to be, THEN you can simply start creating a plan to get where you want to be.

I know as you begin to be honest with yourself it will set you free. Check out next week’s article which will go even deeper into how the truth will set you free.

What’s the tiny “It’s Possible” step that you need to take in your life to move just a little bit closer or a lot closer to what you want? Let me know in the comments below.

Then go ahead and do them, just give them a try, and you will make the impossible, the “IT’S POSSIBLE”

  1. I love this post…it’s all about being “real” with ourselves! Sometimes it requires a lot of courage to do that and then take corrective actions to make ourselves better. Thanks for this post!
